Die Nachricht über eine mögliche Schließung des Gymnasiums Nonnenwerth macht mich sehr, sehr betroffen. Schon zu meiner Schulzeit in Sinzig hatte Nonnenwerth einen tollen Ruf. Ich habe damals mit einigen Freunden, die auf Nonnenwerth zur Schule gingen, Musik gemacht. Nonnenwerth galt schon immer als eine besondere Schule, weshalb auch die Kinder meiner Freunde von damals heute Schüler auf Nonnenwerth sind. Es wäre ein großer Verlust, wenn diese Schule nach fast 170 Jahren schließen würde – daher sollten sich alle Verantwortlichen dringend darum bemühen, die Schule unbedingt langfristig zu erhalten.
Der aus Sinzig-Bad Bodendorf stammende und für die Filmmusik diverser Hollywood-Blockbuster (z.B. Fluch der Karibik, Poseidon, The Time Machine) bekannte Komponist Klaus Badelt unterstützt die Bemühungen um den Erhalt des traditionsreichen Franziskus-Gymnasiums Nonnenwerth.

Klaus Badelt, who spent his youth in Sinzig-Bad Bodendorf and who is well-known for the soundtracks he contributed to numerous Hollywood Blockbusters (such as Pirates of the Carribean, Poseidon or The Time Machine), supports the efforts to ensure the survival of the ‚Franziskus-Gymnasium Nonnenwerth‘, a School rich in tradition and originally founded by a Franciscan Order.
„The news that the existence of the Franziskus-Gymnasium Nonnenwerth is currently at risk really took me aback. Already at the time when I went to school in Sinzig, Nonnenwerth had an excellent reputation. Some of my friends with whom I used to make music at the time went to that particular school“, Badelt remembers.
„Nonnenwerth has always been considered as an exceptional school – which is why the children of my boyhood friends are now attending school on Nonnenwerth Island, too. It would be a tragic loss if the school would be closed after nearly 170 years – and therefore all parties responsible should do their utmost to ensure the long-term continuance of the school“, Badelt says.“
